COVID-19 update for  March 24 on facility closures

Posted: Mar 24, 2020 3:38 PM   |  Updated: Apr 26, 2021 8:19 AM

As we continue to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, our top priority remains the health, safety and well-being of our students, staff and visitors.

To ensure NAIT aligns with direction from the Government of Canada and Alberta Health Services, we have closed most campuses, buildings and wings, and restricted access to others.

Effective immediately:

  • only staff whose jobs require them to be on site and who have permission from their supervisor, are allowed on campus.
  • only students who need access to NAIT’s computer lab should be on campus

All members of our community should be mindful of maintaining a minimum of 2 metres physical distance, regular handwashing, and other safety measures to help “flatten the curve,” as recommended by Alberta Health.

Please view the Main Campus map of closed buildings and wings. For detailed information, read below.

Map Closure

Closed campuses, buildings and wings

Please note that by closed, we mean that the building is locked. Access is restricted to staff who have explicit permission to enter a building. Utilities are still running, so equipment will not be impacted.

The following campuses, buildings and wings are closed:

HET V N
B C J
S W Y
PIC H O
PEB PE L
Spruce Grove Patricia Souch

The western corridor that runs north to south in A-Wing is closed. The western portion of E-Wing is closed on all floors, except for the thoroughfare area near G and F.

Open and “staff only” buildings

CAT computer lab remains open only for students who need access to the lab to support their learning. This is the only reason for students to be on campus.

Only staff whose jobs require them to be on site and who have permission from their supervisor, are allowed on campus.

The following buildings and wings are “staff only”

Tower D X
G F U - by appointment only

The thoroughfare between X, G and F that leads to U through the eastern corridor in A is open for foot traffic.

On-campus services

Staff should also be aware of these additional changes to services and facilities on campus:

  • Health Services has moved to CAT127. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • One AT NAIT Card office is now located in the CAT Computer Commons. They are open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • All eat AT NAIT locations are closed

While many facilities and services are closed for in-person and drop-in services, some have alternative means of access, including online, telephone and, in some cases, by appointment. Please refer to the Facility and Service Status page on the emergency microsite for up-to-date information.

We appreciate your continued patience, co-operation and understanding during this challenging time. To stay up- to-date with ongoing developments at NAIT, please visit our general information site.
